When a Minneapolis family's Mother's Day celebrations were ominously interrupted by a suspicious figure lurking near their vehicle, the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) swiftly stepped in to save the day—and possibly more. The family had been setting up for their festivities on Saturday when the unknown male was spotted. But by the time officers from the 3rd Precinct arrived at the scene, the intruder had vamoosed, leaving behind a shaken yet unharmed group.
The beaming cops made the best out of a potentially unnerving situation. They diverted the attention of the family’s children, engaging them with tours around their squad car and handing out stickers, turning a moment of alarm into one of camaraderie.
In a Facebook post, the MPD conveyed their Mother's Day wishes to all mothers and celebrated them for their unwavering roles in both the force and the greater community. "Happy Mother’s Day from the MPD!" the department shared, alongside an account of the incident and the officers’ subsequent interactions with the family.
