The birthday celebration turned tragedy last week has led to a father's arrest following the death of his daughter in an ATV crash. According to Nashville police, Victor Mozqueda, 40, allowed his daughter Melanie, 14, and another teen to operate an ATV unsupervised on a public road during a party at his home on May 11.
Charged with six counts tied directly to the fatal incident, Mozqueda was swept up by law enforcement today, having his freedom revoked on the heels of a collision that snatched his daughter's last breath. Reports indicate the ATV collided with a Jeep Patriot on Darbytown Drive. While driving without helmet, Melanie Mozqueda sustained injuries that resulted in her death the next day at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. This information was detailed by a statement on Nashville.gov.
The charges against Mozqueda include criminally negligent homicide involving a minor, two counts of reckless endangerment by motor vehicle, two counts of aggravated child abuse, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
