A Nashville police officer has been canned after he was caught on camera in a mock traffic stop video that appeared on OnlyFans, an adult content platform, Metro Nashville Police Department officials said. The video, which featured the officer in his official uniform, was first flagged on Wednesday and led to the immediate decommissioning of the officer, identified as Sean Herman.
Herman, who had been with the department for three years and was last assigned to the Madison precinct, was terminated by MNPD Chief John Drake just about 24 hours after the department discovered the video. MNPD spokesperson condemned the actions, stating, "His actions were totally outrageous and incredibly disrespectful to every MNPD employee and this agency as a whole," FOX 17 News reported.
The contentious video, titled "Can’t believe he didn’t arrest me," shows a woman being pulled over for allegedly speeding before she exposes herself to the officer, leading to sexually suggestive conduct. The officer’s face was not visible, but his Metro Nashville Police patch made a brief appearance. WTVF notes that after the exchange, the woman was not cited but was instead let off with a warning.
The incident has raised questions about whether Herman was on duty at the time of recording the video. The police department has yet to clarify this detail. "It’s not clear if Herman was on the clock while making the video," an MNPD representative mentioned to Action News 5. Following the incident, additional details from the investigation continued to emerge into Wednesday evening, according to a report by WSMV.
As the scandal unfolds, Herman's actions have been widely criticized by the department and the public alike, igniting a debate over the misuse of police uniforms and equipment in activities unbecoming of an officer. The MNPD is now likely to revisit its guidelines and disciplinary procedures in the wake of this event to prevent such incidents in the future.
