In a significant crackdown on car theft and illegal firearms sales, 19-year-olds Thierry Bwenge and Omar Diouf were apprehended last Thursday. According to the Nashville Police Department, the arrests are part of an ongoing investigation that has brought multiple charges against the duo, including felony weapon possession and possession of burglary tools.
Bwenge was arrested near his Thornehill Drive home. Upon executing a search warrant, officers discovered firearms, ammunition, drug paraphernalia, and tools linked to car theft. Diouf, facing similar charges, was also nabbed with a reported stolen gun and a device used to modify firearms. He was caught after bolting from his Ransom Place residence and, during the pursuit, discarded a loaded handgun.
Their attempts to operate under the radar were foiled as police confiscated a considerable cache from both homes. Key to the operation was a 3D printer and an array of electronic devices suspected of being used to facilitate their criminal activities. The seizure also included multiple firearm pieces and a variety of munitions from Bwenge's place, while Diouf's stash turned up a 3D-printed switch that could convert a rifle to automatic fire.
Additionally, Diouf faces an auto theft charge after being linked to a stolen Infiniti G37 from an incident on April 26th. Detectives say he evaded capture after a high-speed chase on Murfreesboro Pike. Both Bwenge and Diouf remain behind bars, with bonds set at $196,000 and $160,000 respectively. As the legal process unfolds, the confiscated items paint a stark picture of the young men's alleged foray into the underworld.
