The Metro Nashville Police Department is on the hunt for two male suspects implicated in a series of hotel burglaries, impersonating guests to gain access and pilfer thousands in valuables from unsuspecting visitors' accommodations. According to WKRN, the thieves accrued a sizable haul from guests at the Westin Hotel on Clark Place on May 5, flagging them in the growing list of incidents citywide.
One of the alleged perpetrators, Ronald Fillinger Jr., 53, has been identified and is currently facing a battery of charges, including aggravated burglary and theft of property. This follows the discovery left behind at the Marriot, in which police found luggage that Fillinger had abandoned and, inside, his Davidson County Sheriff’s Office-issued prisoner ID card, Fox17 reports.
Already circulated surveillance footage has shown Fillinger alongside an as-yet-unidentified accomplice during the recent break-in at the Westin Hotel. His criminal repertoire extends beyond this incident, with allegations of similar trespasses committed at the Courtyard by Marriott and a previous intrusion at a Wyndham Hotel location on March 20. Authorities have stated that several items from the Wyndham heist were later located in the luggage recovered at the Courtyard by Marriott.
Fillinger's criminal history is threaded with similar entries, including a January 31 arrest after staff members, leaving a room open to dehumidify it, found him asleep inside an unoccupied apartment at SoBro Apartments & Homesharing. "He was last arrested on January 31st after he was found sleeping in an unoccupied room of the SoBro Apartments & Homesharing, 516 Lea Avenue. The door to a room had been left open for the room to be dehumidified," WSMV conveyed from police statements.
The MNPD is seeking public assistance to apprehend these suspects. Anyone with information on Fillinger's current whereabouts or the identification of his unknown accomplice in the May 5 burglary is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
