A teen's morning spat with her baby's father led to multiple assault charges after a reckless drive through Nashville with her 2-month-old child in tow, authorities say.

The 16-year-old girl, whose name has not been disclosed due to her age, faces three counts of aggravated assault against first responders, felony evading arrest, and aggravated child endangerment. According to Nashville.gov, the confrontation began after the father accused her of kidnapping their baby, which precipitated the police chase.

Monday morning's events unfolded when officers arrived at 5000 Linbar Drive around 7 a.m. and found the teen driving away in a Honda Civic with the infant strapped in the backseat. Police attempts to engage with the teenager were rebuffed, and the situation escalated when she struck a police vehicle while reversing aggressively, then sped away from 97 Wallace Road, leading officers on a chase into Rutherford County.

The pursuit came to an end at Waldron Road, where the teen finally halted at a traffic light. With the cooperation of a LaVergne officer, law enforcement were able to apprehend the embattled teen without further drama, securing the well-being of the child, who is now with family members, the Nashville government website reports.
