Time's ticking for Oregon voters as Election Day looms on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. If you want your voice heard in the primary elections, make sure your ballot is either snug in a county elections office or dropped at an official site by 8 p.m., or if you're a traditionalist, get it postmarked by the same day — no exceptions, according to officials.
For those of you in Multnomah County, listen up: you can drop your ballot into any Official Ballot Drop Site, including most county libraries with 24-hour book drops, so there's no excuse not to vote. More details and the full list of drop sites can be found on the Multnomah County website. Registered voters should have already received their ballots, but if you haven't, call Multnomah County Elections at 503-988-VOTE (8693) and they'll help you out.
For the forgetful among us, there's salvation in the form of the Order Ahead Replacement Ballot Service. Simply request a replacement online at the county's website, then swing by the Duniway-Lovejoy Elections Building in Portland or the Voting Center Express in Gresham to pick up your ballot. They've made it so easy it's almost criminal not to vote.
Extended hours are being rolled out like a VIP carpet at the Southeast Portland and Gresham locations. Starting from May 15th, they’re extending their hours until 7 p.m. and even offering weekend hours to accommodate your last-minute decision-making. But remember, candidate contests for City of Portland elected offices are sitting out this round and waiting for November 5, when they'll debut the city's new ranked choice voting system. Get the lowdown on these changes on Portland's government site. It's 2024, and we're all about innovation in elections, people!
Lastly, for you tech-savvy citizens, tracking your ballot is as simple as open, click, and track. Sign up for the Multnomah County Elections' tracker and get constant reassurance in multiple languages that your ballot is racing towards the finish line. Check it out at their ballot tracking site.
Don’t snooze on this, as the endgame is near, with May 21st being D-Day for your decision-making, and the final results will be stale news by June 17, 2024. You've got the resources, the links, and the numbers, so whether your ballot gets there by foot, by post, or by miracle, make sure it gets there. Check out all the details on the Multnomah County Elections news release.
