Sunday night's calm in Bay Point was shattered when a vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian at the intersection of Willow Pass Road and Poinsettia Avenue, as reported by Contra Costa News. The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District received the call at 9:23 pm and was quickly dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office found the victim down in the roadway, already bleeding profusely. Despite a sheriff's deputy's effort to rapidly administer CPR until fire personnel could take over, the person was pronounced dead shortly after. The roadway was subsequently closed off to allow for investigations, which were still ongoing as of 9:50 pm.

NBC Bay Area added that the accident occurred in an area that does not have a crosswalk, with video footage capturing an extensive police presence at the site of the tragedy.
