Phoenix bookworms, get ready to dive between the covers of your next adventure. Starting June 1, the Phoenix Public Library launches its "Adventure Begins at Your Library" Summer Reading Game, a program that's bound to turn pages and heads with its no-cost entertainment choice for kids, teens, adults, and families. According to a publication on the city's library newsroom, the game which runs through August 1, promises book-lovers an escape from the sizzling summer with a lineup of prizes, all while promoting literacy.
Fuelled by imagination, participants have the easy task of registering for the free game, which allows every member of a household to join anytime. A printable gameboard is available online under “Additional Resources”, or in person at any of the library branches. Alternatively, they can fire up their screens and simply play online. With the only requirement being to read at least 20 minutes a day and log those minutes to rack up points, participants can earn their way toward grand prize drawings.
Reading rewards aren't just about gaining knowledge, as the library has thrown into the mix some impressive spoils. "Just by reading, everyone has the chance to win amazing experiences such as Phoenix Mercury Tickets, Harkins Theatres Family Prize Packs and free state park passes," according to the library's announcement. And the entertainment doesn’t stop there. With planned events that include mini-golf setups and live reptile shows, the library ensures that there's never a dull moment this summer.
Engagement can be seen buzzing through social media as patrons share their summer reads and library adventures using hashtags like #SummerReadingCharade and #AdventureBeginsAtYourLibrary. It's evident that the Phoenix Public Library is betting big on community engagement, envisioning a summer where stories leap off the pages and into the hearts of its visitors.
