Portland residents can expect a gradual shift from partly sunny skies to clear sunshine with a high nearing 71 degrees today, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). Early morning clouds are predicted to dissipate, giving way to calm winds that will gain some strength from the north northwest as the day progresses.
Tonight, the skies will remain mostly clear as temperatures dip to a cool 46 degrees, with the north northwest wind slowing down, eventually becoming light after midnight. As Portlanders gear up for the weekend, the NWS indicates Friday will bring mostly sunny conditions, a slight uptick in warmth with highs of about 79 degrees, and persistent north northwest winds at a tame 3 to 7 mph.
The forecast posted on the NWS website shows that the pleasant weather will continue into Saturday with a high of 73 degrees under partly sunny skies. The evening, however, may see the temperature drop to around 54 degrees, with mounting cloud cover setting the stage for a potentially soggy Sunday.
Those planning outdoor activities for the end of the weekend should have an umbrella at the ready. "Rain likely, mainly after 11am," says the NWS forecast for Sunday, which has a 60% chance of precipitation. The week starts with Monday's rainy morning, leading to showers throughout the day and a high of 66 degrees. The chance of showers continues into Tuesday, though the temperatures will remain mild, hovering around 70 degrees.
