Rockford man Delano Albert, 35, is headed to the slammer for 12 years after copping a plea for slinging meth, state top cop Kwame Raoul's office has announced. The guilty plea before Ogle County Circuit Court Judge John C. Redington came down Monday, ending the case with a stiff sentence for a Class X felony, officials said.
"I will continue to collaborate with federal agencies and local law enforcement to combat trafficking and hold perpetrators accountable," Raoul stated, emphasizing his crackdown on the drug trade, which he argues ramps up other criminal activity dragging down our streets. Albert's unlucky sale to undercover agents with the Illinois State Police’s Blackhawk Area Task Force landed him in hot water, where after the spade-work of the task force and the diligent prosecution something resembling a winning hand has been dealt against the blight of meth.
The Illinois Attorney General's office echoed their commitment to knocking out significant criminal enterprises with Bureau Chief Gregg Gansmann from Raoul’s Statewide Grand Jury Bureau taking the lead on this case. According to the Illinois Attorney General's office, the Statewide Grand Jury Bureau packs a punch against multi-county cases roping in drugs, guns, or organized retail crime, indicating serious business when it comes to breaking down the operations of sophisticated crooks.
In the wake of the sentencing, Brendan F. Kelly, the Illinois State Police Director, gave his two cents, "This sentencing means another person found guilty of poisoning our communities with dangerous meth is off the streets," he crowed, no doubt about the Polizei bringing their A-game, "The dedicated work of the Illinois State Police’s Blackhawk Area Task Force, along with prosecution by the Illinois Attorney General, is making a difference and saving lives."
