San Francisco cyclists gearing up for Bike to Work Day should prepare to pedal through patches of drizzle this morning, particularly in coastal regions. The National Weather Service Bay Area cautioned riders on X to expect damp conditions for their morning commutes. "Not to put a damp-er on #BiketoWorkDay but expect drizzly commute conditions in coastal areas through mid-morning," posted the NWS Bay Area.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in San Francisco have projected that the misty conditions would follow a clearing trend, giving way to breezy and clearer skies by the afternoon. "Widespread stratus coverage dissipating by mid to late morning with breezy, clear conditions developing by the afternoon," according to a morning statement from the National Weather Service San Francisco. Meanwhile, inland temperatures are set to warm up into the 70's, offering a pleasant backdrop for outdoor activities post-commute.
The weather outlook for the weekend seems to encourage outdoor plans, as the later part of the weekend predicts reduced stratus coverage, which had been previously limited to the coastal areas. "Heading into the weekend, stratus coverage will be diminished with stratus primarily confined to coastal regions," the NWS SF Bay Area forecast discussion noted. However, a slight warning was issued regarding potential minor heat risks for sensitive individuals early next week, with suggestions to stay hydrated and take regular breaks if spending prolonged periods outdoors.
Mariners are also advised to exercise caution as Gale Warnings and Small Craft Advisories have been issued for certain offshore zones. "Northwesterly winds increase through the day, particularly over the northernmost zones with gale-force gusts expected in the northern outer waters," the National Weather Service explained, indicating rougher sea conditions starting this weekend and stretching into the coming work week. It suggests boat owners should to check the latest marine forecasts and be prepared for conditions that can turn challenging.
