
A traffic stop turned shootout in Porter ended with a suspect hospitalized and Montgomery County authorities on alert this Tuesday morning. According to FOX 26 Houston, a routine stop at Valley Ranch and Azalea around 8:45 a.m. escalated into gunfire when the suspect allegedly shot at a Montgomery County Precinct 4 deputy and then bolted into the nearby neighborhoods.
Law enforcement officers returned fire, hitting the suspect at least once, and despite the violent exchange, no deputies were harmed, emergency services quickly rushed the suspect to the hospital for treatment, while officers swarmed the 21100 block of American Yellowwood Place, setting up a perimeter to investigate the incident.
The officer-involved shooting has kicked up a storm of police activity, with drones being deployed and multiple agencies joining hands to canvas the location. KTRK reported that no information is available regarding what specifically initiated the shootout or if the suspect was definitively armed at the time of the incident.
