Suspect Sought in Armed Robbery and Shooting at Market in San Diego's Castle Neighborhood

A brazen robbery unfolded at the Landis Street Market, where a suspect armed with a silver revolver demanded cash and discharged his weapon, authorities reported. The San Diego Police Department logged the incident occurring on May 12, with the armed individual confronting the store clerk around 8 PM at the establishment located at 4000 Landis Street in the Castle neighborhood. The suspect, a man in his 30s or 40s with a thin build and sported brown hair, was attired in a white and gray hat, a tan long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans, and white shoes.

The tension-filled exchange ended with the thief making off with an undetermined amount of money after compelling the clerk to open the register. He left his mark with a single gunshot to the ground and a physical blow that left the clerk with a bruise on the shoulder, said Officer Buttle, the watch commander on duty. Although the suspect remains at large, his act of violence and threat to the community is clear.

The police have not identified a suspect in the case nor made any arrests. Robbery detectives have been notified and are investigating the case further.
