
Tragic gunfire erupted in Troutdale last week when an unknown assailant blasted multiple shots into a vehicle, critically injuring the driver. The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office is rallying the community for assistance after the brutal shooting that left one person with life-threatening injuries. According to the official press release, the incident occurred on Thursday, May 9, 2024, around 11:45 p.m. near SW 257th Drive and SW 26th Street.
The MCSO reports indicated that an altercation sparked between the occupants of a vehicle and a man on foot. It was during this confrontation that the unknown pedestrian drew a firearm and fired upon the car. The victim, the vehicle’s driver, sustained a gunshot wound to the head. In a dire rush for survival, the wounded driver was promptly escorted to Mt. Hood Medical Center by a passenger. The sheriff's office commended the victim’s swift actions in seeking aid following the harrowing event.
Detectives have yet to identify a motive behind the shooting and are relying on tips to track down the assailant, whose violent impulses left a community in shock and a person in critical care. The MCSO has not released any descriptions of the suspect, but they continue to scour the area for clues.
