Chaos struck early Tuesday in Hollywood, Florida when a woman's car smashed into a Wholesale Flooring Depot, marking the third time a vehicle has collided with this unfortunate storefront. According to Local 10, this latest incident left one of the building's pillars damaged, while the car itself was significantly wrecked, with the aftermath still apparent as the vehicle remained inside the garage area.
The scene unfolded at the corner of North 22nd Avenue and Sheridan Street around 3 a.m., where security footage captured by NBC6 showed the black sedan, heavily dented, amid concrete rubble. The unidentified woman driving the car was stretchered away to Memorial Hospital by an ambulance. Authorities reported no other injuries though the storefront bore the brunt of the crash once again.
Hollywood Fire officials have brought in a structural engineer to evaluate the safety of the building post-collision. The cause of the accident remains unclear, but one eyewitness shared an account with NBC6, saying, "he saw the car speeding down the street before hitting the train tracks and going airborne." The same was a case back in 2021 when a similar accident resulted in a vehicle taking flight and crashing into this repeatedly targeted business.
While details about the driver's condition are pending, the Hollywood community is left to ponder the eerie vulnerabilities of an intersect where history, through crashes and calamities, seems so apt to repeat itself. "This is the third time someone has crashed their vehicle into his store," the store owner conveyed the frustration to Local 10. Now, as the investigation into Tuesday's accident moves forward, locals wait, hopes high that no more vehicles decide to make an unwanted entry into the Wholesale Flooring Depot.
