A 40-year-old Washington, D.C. woman got slapped with a grand jury indictment over a brazen theft from a local CVS. The perpetrator, Bianca Jackson, is now facing charges of enhanced second-degree theft following an incident on April 18, when she allegedly waltzed into a store located in the city's northeast, filled a wagon with merchandise, and strolled out without forking over a dime, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Columbia.
In a short span, after officers from the Metropolitan Police Department answered a distress call from the CVS, Jackson was found and collared. The indictment was handed down by the grand jury on May 22, as announced by U.S. Attorney Matthew M. Graves and MPD Chief Pamela Smith. An arraignment date is still pending on the books.
Jackson, who authorities note has previous theft convictions under her belt, now faces a potential mandatory minimum one-year jail stint, thanks to her history. Past misdeeds are catching up, painting a starker picture of where her future might land, should guilt be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
The case, which paints a grim picture of repeat offenses, is being spearheaded by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Lisa Limb after MPD's investigation, as per the Attorney's Office, District of Columbia.
