Avondale Intensifies Speeding Crackdown with New Speed Safety Cameras on Van Buren St. and 107th Ave

The local police department is stepping up its campaign against speeding by deploying Speed Safety Cameras in new locations from June 3 to June 23. As per the official announcement from Avondale PD, these temporary installations have found a home on Van Buren St. between 107th Ave. and Avondale Blvd., specifically aimed at westbound lanes, and on 107th Ave. just south of Van Buren St. targeting southbound traffic. 

Regular rotations of these camera locations, every few weeks, serve to keep drivers on their toes and maintain low speeds in key areas, particularly those highlighted by resident complaints and documented speeding by local officers. Signs are in place to alert drivers to the presence of these cameras, providing fair warning to those who may otherwise be caught unawares. It's a straightforward message from the City of Avondale: safety over speed.

As the warning period draws to a close, traffic violators can expect to receive a Notice of Violation with any infraction. Penalties start steep at $185, scaling up as the needle pushes past the speed limit. Avondale PD makes it clear—the cost of speeding outweighs a few saved seconds on these streets.
