The Cobb County Safety Village is hosting their Family Fun Safety Day where families can engage in educational activities and interact with local emergency personnel. On three separate dates this summer, the doors of the Safety Village will be open for anyone seeking to participate in a variety through safety demonstrations and games.
From donning a firefighter’s hat to getting the rare chance to quickly peek inside a squad car, the village offers hands-on experiences designed to educate children—and let’s be honest, adults too—about safety procedures. In what is shaping up to be the must-visit event for the family this season, the village will showcase emergency vehicles, a tour of Sparky’s House, and live puppet shows at their mini "Strand Theatre." The event promises a full morning into early afternoon of structured fun from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
"Meet firefighters and emergency personnel - see their vehicles up close," invites the official Cobb County website. In addition to the excitement, children can gather valuable life skills such as how to escape from smoke by crawling low and the correct way to dial 911. Crucial home safety tips such as how to reduce fire hazards and the practices for ensuring kitchen safety are also part of the day’s curriculum. It’s a perfect combination of entertainment and education—because why not learn something while having a blast?
The event operates on a first come, first serve basis, with no pre-registration necessary. The cost is a pocket-friendly $5.00 per individual, or $20 per family, and it’s free for children under the age of two. While there may not be any restaurant or vending on site, families are encouraged to bring their own snacks and a picnic blanket to enjoy a meal outdoors. In case the skies decide to grace the day with a shower, the organizers assure that the fun will happen rain or shine. For larger groups of 20 or more, special rates are available by calling ahead.
