The City of Blaine is considering a change to its comprehensive plan that could reshape a slice of the city's land use. In a notice for an upcoming public hearing, the City is petitioning to amend the designation for a plot located at the northwest corner of Paul Parkway NE and Ulysses Street NE from predominantly high-density residential and planned commercial (HDR/PC) to a melding of medium density residential and community commercial (MDR/CC).
This move, as outlined in Case 24-0036, lays the groundwork for future projects that could alter the neighborhood's landscape. Residents interested in the possible rebalancing of residential and commercial spaces in their city can attend the public hearing scheduled for June 11, 2024. This will unfold at Blaine City Hall Council Chambers, which is set to kick off at 7:00 P.M.
To better understand the proposed change, Blaine's citizens can review the submitted plans at BlaineMN.gov/PCItems. According to the city's announcement, a staff report will be made available three days before the session commences. The Planning Commission will accept comments from the public during the meeting, after which it will convene to make a recommendation to the City Council.
Input from the community is both welcomed and encouraged. Those wishing to participate can submit comments via email to [email protected] or by standard mail, addressed to the Planning Department. For those preferring to view the proceedings from a distance, the city will broadcast the meeting live on Comcast channel 799 and via an online live stream at BlaineMN.gov/Video. Recordings of the meeting will also be available for on-demand viewing on the city's video and agendas webpages.
