Boston residents can expect a mild week ahead with a mix of sun and clouds, along with a slight chance of showers starting Tuesday afternoon. According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday will see partly sunny skies with a possible shower post-1pm, and temperatures peaking near 74 degrees. As the day extends, an east wind at about 5 to 7 mph could bring in cooler breezes from the coast, capping temperatures in the low 70s.
Wednesday won't stray far in terms of weather patterns, with "A slight chance of showers after 2 pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 75. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 20%", per the same source. As we push into Thursday, residents should prepare for a notable increase in temperature, and a Southwest wind will set in pushing the mercury up to an agreeable 87 degrees.
NBC Boston points out that while Tuesday is a day for mild weather and possible light showers, the real heat is expected to come next week with "Highs should soar to the 90s and humidity will spike as well." But before we reach such sweltering heights, Friday could bring some theatrics to the sky, with a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the early to late afternoon as a front makes its way through the region.
As the weekend commences, a chance of showers between 1 pm and 2 pm, then scattered showers and thunderstorms after 2 pm is anticipated on Friday, but by Saturday the forecast promises sunny skies with a high near 76 degrees and a calm North wind, thus providing some reprieve before the hammer of heat descends upon us the following week, explains the National Weather Service.
Looking further down the line, Boston is bracing for a blast of summer heat as a high-pressure system plans to park itself over the East, bringing with it a hot dome that could render the city a simmering cauldron by mid-week, cautions NBC Boston.
