Following a disturbance call due to loud music in Roxbury, Boston Police Department's Anti-Crime Unit arrested two 17-year-old males on weapons charges early Wednesday morning. According to a report by the Boston Police Department, the officers were patrolling the area of Humboldt Avenue and Homestead Street around 12:45 AM when they spotted the two individuals, who briskly changed direction upon noticing law enforcement, subsequently escalating to a chase after one individual appeared to clutch his waistband suspiciously.
The situation rapidly unfolded once officers attempted to engage the youths, with both suspects attempting to evade the officers by fleeing up Munroe Street. During the pursuit, initiated after the officers turned their cruiser around, officers observed one suspect with a firearm and commanded the suspects to halt and drop the weapon. While one was able to jump over a fence, the other engaged in a struggle before being detained.
One of the suspects, after discarding the firearm behind the fence and hiding in a backyard bush, was located swiftly by officers. The recovered weapon, identified as a Glock 20, was found loaded with twelve rounds in the magazine. Both suspects now face charges including unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a large capacity feeding device, destruction of property, trespassing, and resisting arrest, as stated by the Boston Police Department. Their arraignment is anticipated in Boston Juvenile Court.
