Customers of CenterPoint Energy in Indiana can expect some changes in their service starting next month. The utility company is set to roll out a new billing system, which includes upgrades such as a redesigned bill format and more options for self-service. CenterPoint Energy announced the transition is slated to begin on July 2, and customers will be assigned a new account number. This change will accompany a refreshed online user interface designed to simplify program enrollments and enhance the customer experience. As per WTHR, customers will be able to locate their new account number by logging into their account online or by reaching out to CenterPoint Customer Service.
The current online services will be temporarily suspended from June 27 to July 1 to smoothly facilitate the transition to this new system. The intention is to minimize disruption, but customers are advised to possibly hasten completing their payments before June 26 to steer clear of any potential processing hold-ups. Those utilizing automatic bill pay via banks or credit unions will need to update their payment information with the new account number in July to ensure an uninterrupted service. This advisory was also reported by WEVV, emphasizing the importance for customers with such arrangements to act promptly once the new information is at hand.
There will be no need for those who receive aid from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) to worry about these changes, as the transition will not affect them. According to both WTHR and WTHI-TV, LIHEAP participants will have their previous account details automatically carried over to their new account, eliminating the need for their direct intervention.
The revamped system aims to offer a better and more efficient approach to managing utility bills, with an emphasis placed on user-friendliness and streamlined service. "Customers will find their new account number on the upper right corner of their bill, online at CenterPointEnergy.com/MyAccount on the left side of the dashboard when logged into their account or by calling CenterPoint customer service," as per the guidelines shared by CenterPoint Energy, stated WTHI-TV. The company is making considerable efforts to ensure that their customers are prepared for these changes, and service representatives are likely to be busy in the coming weeks as they help to guide users through the new system.
