A man has been charged with the armed robbery of a 58-year-old male in Chicago, Illinois, authorities said. The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Timmie Worthy of the 1500 block of N. Leamington Ave., was nabbed by Chicago Police Department officers on May 31st, shortly after the alleged crime took place, a police report stated.
Worthy, who police say managed to forcefully to obtain property at gunpoint, is facing a felony count of aggravated robbery as well as a charge for possession of cannabis in a quantity ranging from 100 to 500 grams on his first offense. The encounter, which occurred on the 4200 block of W. Cullerton St. in the 10th District, left the victim unharmed but shaken, as reported by the Chicago Police Department.
The arrest was made at approximately 12:14 p.m. on the 4300 block of W. 21st St., a short distance from the robbery location. Worthy was identified and subsequently placed into custody.
A court date has been set for the detention hearing, which is to take place on June 2nd at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California. The Chicago Police Department has yet to release any additional information surrounding the specifics of the robbery or the arrest. The investigation into this brazen daylight crime continues.
