
A 25-year-old Chicago man has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old male, authorities reported on Thursday. Valeriano Heredia, hailing from the 4100 block of W. 24th St., faces a first-degree murder charge for the incident, as reported by the Chicago Police Department.
Chicago police apprehended Heredia on June 10, 2024, after he was identified as the suspect in the shooting, which occurred on June 9 in the 3900 block of W. 31st St. During a detention hearing on June 13, details emerged that the alleged offender was captured in the 2100 block of S. 1st Ave. in Maywood, just a day after the incident. Authorities were quick to quickly charge Heredia following his arrest.
Court proceedings are expected to provide further insight as the case progresses, while Heredia remains in custody awaiting further legal action. According to the Chicago Police Department, no additional information has been released at this time.
