In a harrowing incident over the weekend, a child almost drowned at an apartment complex pool in DeKalb County. This near-tragedy occurred at the Silver Oaks Apartments located on 1281 Brockett Road. Officials, who rushed to the scene, subsequently transported the child to the hospital for emergency care. As per standard protocol due to the child's age, their identity has been kept confidential, as FOX 5 Atlanta reported.
Regrettably, a similar and more tragic event unfolded at another DeKalb County apartment complex just days earlier. A 9-year-old boy drowned in the pool of Village at The Creek apartments, located on 751 North Indian Creek in Clarkston. DeKalb County Police were called to the scene shortly after 6 p.m. on Friday and found the young boy unconscious. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the boy did not survive, 11Alive reported.
Detectives are actively investigating the circumstances leading up to the boy's drowning at Village at The Creek apartments. Questions linger about how the boy came to be in the pool unsupervised and what measures, if any, were in place to prevent such tragic occurrences. The investigation aims to bring clarity to the events and possibly prevent future incidents.
