Christina Rost has assumed her permanent post as Director of Ramsey County Veterans Services, a transition from her interim director role in August last year, as detailed in an announcement made by the county's official news release. Her prior tenure with the county started in 2016 as a veteran services officer, marking a continuation of her career geared toward veteran support and service enhancement.
With a history steeped in aiding those who served, Rost comes well-prepared for the directorship. Serving as a military family assistance specialist for the Department of Defense for 12 years, her commitment to service members has been longstanding and multifaceted – with her hands also having been tasked with case management and nursing assistance. After graduating from Metro State University with a bachelor’s degree in human services, Rost also brings to the table nine years of experience from the Minnesota Army National Guard.
"Christina is a knowledgeable, accomplished leader with a strong commitment to connecting service members, veterans, and families to benefits and services to support their well-being," Kathy Hedin, Deputy County Manager for the Health and Wellness Service Team, lauded in a statement obtained by the official Ramsey County newsroom. Hedin also noted Rost's adeptness in enhancing department operations and her strategic focus on accessibility for veterans from underrepresented communities.
Rost's affiliation with her Rosemount community through church volunteer work and sits on the Minneapolis Veterans Administration Medical Center's Consumer Advisory Board as a service member. Starting June 10, Rost has formally taken over from Maria Wetherall, who entered retirement in 2022 after 13 years leading the department, the announcement highlighted.
