Japanese discount store chain Daiso is set to open its largest location in Arizona, near Baseline Road and 7th Street in Phoenix this month, as growth for the popular brand continues in the region. This new 13,800 square foot store at Mountain Park Plaza promises to be a haven for shoppers looking for Japanese stationary, character products, home goods, and more. In a statement obtained by ABC15, a Daiso representative confirmed that the grand opening is 'estimated' for June 22.
Meanwhile, eager fans of the affordable goodies won't have to long wait, as yet another location is poised to quickly follow suit in the Mesa Superstition area, slated to open on June 29. Currently, Daiso operates five stores within the Valley. The expansion reflects the company’s strong commitment to establish a significant presence across the state, catering to the growing demand for its varied and budget-friendly product range.
Each Daiso shop showcases a diverse array of products including kitchenware, electronic accessories, and crafting supplies, all at their characteristically low price points. The store's pricing strategy has proven successful over years, with most items selling for $1.50, and some options just barely exceeding that threshold, according to the Arizona Republic. Daiso's mission, as stated on their website, is about enriching lives with simple, affordable products, an ethos that has resonated with consumers globally.
Furthering their Arizona campaign, Daiso has plans to cross new frontiers beyond Phoenix. Tucson is poised to welcome the brand by the end of summer with a store at the Ventana Village Shopping Center. While an exact opening date hasn't been announced, anticipation is building for the brand's unique blend of Japanese-inspired merchandise to hit the Tucson area. Their expansion strategy seems to decidedly break into geographical areas ripe with consumers ready to embrace Daiso's blend of value and variety.
The chain, known for selling quaint and quirky items at rock-bottom prices, entered the Arizona market back in March 2023 and has seen a series of openings that reflect a targeted growth strategy. From home essentials to irresistible snacks, Daiso continues to carve out a niche in the affordable shopping sector. Current locations in the Valley include Chandler Ranch, Mesa Main Marketplace, Arcadia Fiesta, and Sunburst Plaza, according to reports by ABC15 and The Arizona Republic.
