Early morning violence struck the Arbor Lodge neighborhood of North Portland today, with a fatal shooting claiming the life of a man. Portland Police Bureau officers were dispatched to the site near North Atlantic Avenue and North Lombard Street shortly before 5:30 a.m. following reports of gunfire. On arrival, the responders found a man dead, according to FOX 12. The identity of the deceased remains unconfirmed at this time.
The suspect, whose description is not yet available, managed to evade police and remains at large. The area around the 7300 block of North Atlantic Avenue where the incident occurred, is now closed off as the PPB Homicide Unit carries out its investigation, as per KGW8. No arrests have been made, with law enforcement urging anyone with pertinent information to come forward.
KOIN reports that the area will remain inaccessible to the public for the foreseeable future while the homicide unit continues to examine the scene. "Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact Portland police."
