The Fayetteville community is mourning the loss of one of its own this week after a fatal traffic accident claimed the life of a local man. According to a statement released by the City of Fayetteville, Richard Joseph Philpott, a 57-year-old White male resident of Fayetteville, died in a collision on Ramsey Street at Stacy Weaver Drive. The accident, which occurred when a pickup truck ran a red light and collided with a commercial dump truck, is still under investigation by local authorities.
Details of the crash suggest the commercial dump truck was unable to evade the unexpected entry of the pickup truck into the intersection. To piece together the events leading up to Mr. Philpott's untimely demise, the Fayetteville Police Department is asking for the public's assistance.
