The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) recently honored the successful completion of its 2023-2024 forensic pathology fellowship program, as announced on their official website. Newly minted forensic pathologists Dr. Kari Broder and Dr. Taylor Sliker are set to join the ranks of the GBI, addressing a critical shortage of medical examiners in the state, and potentially across the nation.
The GBI has made it a primary mission to quickly solve the persistent deficit of board-certified medical examiners, and the integration of Dr. Broder and Dr. Taylor stands as a testament to their ongoing efforts. This addition comes in the aftermath of a severe backlog that has been plaguing death investigations, leading inexorably to prolonged legal proceedings and untold anguish among awaiting families.
Throughout their fellowship, Broder and Sliker engaged in a gamut of educational endeavors encompassing on-site and external training segments, encompassing diverse repertoires like scene analysis, toxicology, and even legal intricacies.
