A Miramar neighborhood was disrupted by the sound of gunshots leading to a car crash that left one person injured on Saturday morning. According to Local 10, the incident occurred near Southwest 37 Street and 62 Avenue, and police are actively searching for a black Mercedes-Benz believed to be involved. The victim, who was in a white Kia, received a gunshot wound before crashing into a palm tree next to an apartment complex.

The Miramar Police Department and fire rescue personnel responded to the scene around 10 a.m., as reported by Detective Yessenia Diaz in a statement obtained by Local 10. Witnesses described hearing multiple gunshots, with one resident, Andre Lapalme, recounting the surreal experience to Local 10 of hearing about seven to 10 gunshots during his morning walk. This sentiment was echoed by another resident, Yiovani Gallegos, who told Local 10, “Like almost immediately after you would hear one and then another and another — followed by screaming."

Evidence markers were observed throughout the parking lot, and the white sedan became the focal point of the investigation. The gunshots and subsequent car crashes understandably shook residents, leading some, like Luke Pawlowski, to avoid going outside for a few hours out of safety concerns. Pawlowski's concern was documented by WSVN, “Being a little bit more cautious. I didn’t want to take my dog out for a few hours, so safety concerns.”

No arrests have been made as of yet, and the Miramar Police Department is urging anyone with information to come forward. Members of the public can contact Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS, and they might be eligible to receive a reward for up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest. The Miramar Police was also urging people to call 954-764-4357 if they have anything to share.
