A Nashville bar encounter escalated to alarming criminal behavior last month leading to the arrest of Hendersonville resident Frank Cabrera, 41, who now faces multiple charges including aggravated rape. As reported by WSMV, on May 26, Cabrera is alleged to have sexually assaulted a woman he met at a bar on Elysian Fields Road.
The sequence of events, as the victim described, began in the common area of her apartment complex before Cabrera is said to have entered her apartment without permission and commenced to sexually assault her. "He proceeded to grope and sexually assault her inside the apartment, only stopping after the victim choked him with a charging cable," stated the Metro Nashville Police Department media release. This detail was notably shared by FOX17. Following the assault, video surveillance captured Cabrera unlawfully re-entering the victim's apartment and stealing her purse and car keys which were later recovered at a gas station.
In a coordinated arrest, both Hendersonville Police Department and MNPD's Violent Crimes Detectives apprehended Cabrera on June 6 at his home. The arrest was facilitated through a combination of investigative work and technology, including the use of a private license plate reader which helped in identifying Cabrera as the suspect. This information was included in the report by WKRN.
Cabrera's charges, as detailed by the Metro Nashville Police Department, include aggravated rape, sexual battery, aggravated burglary, vehicle theft, and theft. The suspect is currently jailed on a $137,000 bond, and the case continues to unfold as authorities are likely to dive deeper into the investigation. The community, reeling from the heinous nature of the crime, waits to fully understand the extent to which safety was brazenly violated.
