Lake Havasu City residents should brace for a week of traffic as the city commences its annual road-sealing frenzy. The project, set to begin on June 2, 2024, aims to extend the life of the asphalt in both upscale and downtown areas, as well as the recently finished Island Walking Path and various parking lots. According to city officials, the work will involve covering roughly 67,000 square yards of road with a high-density mineral bond known as HA5, chosen for its durability over other sealing methods.
Motorists will have to navigate through a maze of road closures and delays, with traffic being rerouted by cones, signs, and flaggers. With the HA5 requiring a longer curing time, officials have made a call for patience. Work will primarily be done along McCulloch Blvd., from Acoma Blvd. to Smoketree Ave., and along Scott Dr., Mulberry Ave., and Swanson Ave., stated the city's press release. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes, while businesses will remain accessible through alternative parking arrangements.
Notice of the construction will be provided to residents and businesses situated on these streets, with a five-day head's up followed by a 24-hour reminder before the sealing commences. The city asks that during the operations, the public refrain from street parking and discharging water into the streets. "Do not walk or drive through material until traffic control is removed," warned the municipal authorities.
