A 29-year-old man was arrested following allegations of inappropriately touching a child at the Post Road Library in Forsyth County, with authorities considering the possibility of more victims being involved. Akshay Kumar Singh was taken into custody after the victim's mother reported to the library supervisor that a witness had seen Singh touching her pre-teen child while the child was browsing books in the children's section around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, as detailed in reports by FOX 5 Atlanta and WSB-TV.
Libarary staff and detectives collaborated to review surveillance footage leading to the identification of both the suspect and his vehicle, allowing for Singh's arrest mere hours after the reported incident, "Without the quick actions of the library supervisor and the witness to the crime, this predator may not have been identified as quickly and taken into custody within 3.5 hours," Sheriff Freeman stated, signaling the critical role played by the community and library staff in responding to the alarming situation, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.
Singh is now facing charges of child molestation and sexual battery against a child, while the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office is working in tandem with the District Attorney's office to ensure that this matter is attended with the severity it warrants. This type of crime is not tolerated by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office or the citizens of Forsyth County.
