A man was hospitalized after being stabbed during a large altercation in Boston's Hyde Park on Monday afternoon. The Boston Police Department reported to NBC Boston that they responded to the 300-block of Wood Avenue around 4:20 p.m. following reports of a fight involving roughly 20 individuals, described by witnesses as "kids." The victim, approximately 45 years old, sustained a stab wound to his back.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found multiple injuries with the 45-year-old man's condition being a focus, as he was rushed to the hospital with injuries reported as non-life-threatening, according to WHDH. No arrests had been made in connection to the scuffle which saw several others injured. A piece of the turmoil wrapped in the afterschool hours, neighbors reported a cacophony of screams and shouts that filled the air.
Further investigations by authorities led them to a second related incident on River Street, a short distance from the initial melee. WCVB quoted a witness, requesting anonymity, saying, "We were just in the house and all we could hear is yelling and screaming." This latter encounter resulted in two more individuals being transported to area hospitals for treatment.
The Boston Emergency Medical Services and police responded to the second scene outside Boston Prep, where the first responders said they took two people to hospitals, ensnaring eight to nine reported injuries. The incidents on Wood Avenue and River Street are believed to be connected, as indicated by WCVB's reporting. Both scenes are under active investigation by the Boston police, as the search for the assailant or assailants continues without any arrests made as of last night.
