Maricopa County has set a new personal record by clinching an impressive tally of 75 National Achievement Awards from the National Association of Counties (NACo). This staggering number, the highest the county has seen to date, reflects a commitment to public service that's been turning heads across the nation.
With nearly half of the county's 50 lines of business acknowledged for their excellence, this year's haul is no small feat. Chairman Jack Sellers, in appreciation of the staff's efforts, articulated, "I’m so impressed with the quality of work happening within our organization, from criminal justice to transportation to elections," as reported by the Maricopa County These words echo a sentiment of pride, in the vast scope of achievements. Indeed, every sector from Human Services to Public Health taking home the laurels.
The recognition was well distributed among the county's departments, with Human Services receiving 20 awards, and Public Health garnering 15, as per the Maricopa County. Not to be left behind, the Superior Court of Maricopa County was also spotlighted, with the Adult Probation division netting eight acknowledgments and Juvenile Probation three. These commendations weren't just siloed successes; many arose from interdepartmental teamwork.
