Chaos ensued on the streets of Clarksville yesterday morning when a collision involving four vehicles shut down a section of Dunbar Cave Road. The Clarksville Police Department confirmed the incident occurred before the break of dawn, at approximately 6:22 a.m. at 348 Dunbar Cave Road, as mentioned in a report by WSMV.
Authorities acted promptly, closing the road to both investigate the cause of the crash, and to provide needed attention to the injured. While the road closure disrupted the usual flow of traffic, eastbound drivers were redirected onto Swan Lake Drive and those heading westbound had to take Old Dunbar Cave Road as a detour, as Clarksville Now reported.
After about three hours, which saw the morning rush brought to near standstill, the scene was eventually cleared, and the road was reopened around 9:30 a.m., according to a Facebook update from the Clarksville Police Department. Commuters had to navigate alternative routes to resume their daily activities.
Details on what exactly caused the crash, or the full extent of any injuries sustained, have not been released to the public at this time. The status of those involved, remains a concern for community members, and updates are anticipated as the Clarksville Police Department continues its investigation into the morning's disruptive events.
