According to a report by KRON4, the incident occurred around 3 p.m. near the toll plaza, leading some stranded motorists to exit their vehicles while waiting for the scene to clear.
While details on the number and severity of injuries incurred during the accident were not immediately released, multiple injuries were noted by officials from 511. Footage captured by KRON4 traffic cameras illustrated the immobility that gripped the westbound lanes following the collision. In an update from the same source, it was later announced that by 3:57 p.m., traffic had resumed its flow as all lanes were reopened.
Communication from Caltrans District 4 provided a continuous stream of updates on the status of the lanes. The first alert, issued shortly after the crash, indicated that all lanes were blocked.
