Nashville residents can expect a wet and stormy week ahead according to the latest forecasts from the National Weather Service. Showers and thunderstorms are predicted to sweep through the area primarily before 3 pm today, accompanied by patchy morning fog and a potential for new rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch—although this could rise in case of thunderstorms. With a steamy 86 degrees on the thermometer and southern winds moving at a leisurely 5 to 10 mph, the chance of precipitation stands at a solid 80%.
Moving into the evening, the likelihood of rainfall persists at 60%, when showers and the chance for thunderstorms may resurface after 4 am. The NWS forecasts share that the temperatures will linger around 69 degrees during the night, with south winds maintaining a similar pace. Nashville's weather pattern appears to persist through tomorrow, with an 80% chance of showers and potential thunderstorms forecasted before and following the early afternoon, while winds pick up speed gusting up to 20 mph.
As Thursday approaches, the skies are set to clear up, ushering in sunny conditions and a high of 88 degrees. The respite continues into Thursday night with mostly clear skies and cooling to around 62 degrees, along with a promise of a sunny Friday capped by a high near 82. The weather transitions once more with the weekend in sight, starting with a mostly sunny Saturday; however, showers could make a comeback after 1 am the same evening.
The beginning of next week poses continued uncertainty with a pattern of intermittent chances for showers and thunderstorms, especially Sunday through Monday. Though the days are forecasted to be partly to mostly sunny with highs hovering around the mid-80s, those looking to enjoy the outdoors might do well to stay informed of the potential for sudden weather shifts. As always, up-to-date weather information can be found on the National Weather Service website.
