In a nod to the nostalgia of the 1950s, Niles, Illinois, is set to welcome a new dispensary wrapped in the aesthetic of an era when poodle skirts and milkshakes reigned supreme. Bud and Rita's, a cannabis dispensary with the charming look and feel of a '50s diner, plans to open its doors in mid-June, pending a final state inspection. An executive partner of Nature’s Grace and Wellness, which manages the dispensary, told Pioneer Press that a grand opening is anticipated for late June, featuring onsite vendors and food trucks.

The dispensary claims an address of 5960 W. Touhy Ave., the former location of Graziano's Brick Oven Pizza—a Niles community fixture for three decades. COO Tim O’Hern shared with the Pioneer Press that there is a familial connection to the business, with Bud and Rita being his grandparents' names. A unique blend of family heritage and contemporary cannabis culture, the dispensary joins a densely populated and trafficked area, unfazed by competition from the nearby Green Rose dispensary.

Over in Avondale, Bud and Rita's has already established a foothold with its recently opened diner-themed outpost at 3425 W. Belmont Ave. According to Block Club Chicago, the Avondale location took over two storefronts and set up shop after a year of preparation and community engagement. The grand opening was celebrated with local offerings, including coffee and burritos, and customers had the chance to snag a discount on products.

Both dispensaries are part of a larger family enterprise. Nature’s Grace and Wellness, founded by the O’Hern family in 2014, is behind the dispensary, cultivating and manufacturing cannabis from their farm. Marketing director Patrick O'Hern describes the business as a source of fresh energy and fun for the family. Adding to the community appeal, Bud and Rita's in Avondale offers a private consultation space and hosts events, aligning with the brand's ethos of local integration and neighborhood camaraderie.
