The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a violent incident that left nine people injured on the northwest side of Indianapolis in the early hours of Monday morning. Officers were dispatched to the 7100 block of Woodland Avenue, which is within the perimeter of the 465 loop on 71st Street, following a reported disturbance that was upgraded to a reported stabbing at a strip mall and Miami’s Garden restaurant/bar, as per police public information officer William Young.

Upon arrival at approximately 3:40 a.m, IMPD found multiple individuals with injuries in a parking lot, three of whom were reported to be in critical condition as a release obtained by WRTV. Four others were treated and subsequently released at the scene. Young mentioned that an apparent conflict had erupted between two groups that resulted in the stabbing incident. Among the injured is a person of interest who was also taken to the hospital in critical condition and a second person of interest has been detained, according to statements reported by FOX59.

No arrests have been made as yet in connection to the attack, and detectives are seeking surveillance footage from nearby businesses to aid their investigation. While police do not believe there is an imminent threat to the area, Officer Young has assured a heightened police presence through the morning hours for community reassurance and investigative purposes. In a quote provided to CBS News, Young said, "And so we’ll be canvassing the area as our northwest officers are doing now, trying to look for any camera footage, or surveillance footage that any of these businesses may have."

Witnesses present at the scene provided aid to those wounded until officers arrived, illustrating a community's immediate response to senseless violence. IMPD is now urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist in the ongoing investigation. Tips can be directed to the IMPD at (317) 327-3475 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS (8477).
