In the early hours of a Tuesday morning, the Fuller Park neighborhood witnessed another instance of gun violence within the confounds of a residential home. According to a report by the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Police were alerted around 1:10 a.m. to gunshots fired in the 4700 block of South Princeton Avenue. Arriving at the grim scene, officers discovered three wounded men inside the home. Tragically, one of the victims, a 45-year-old man, was taken to UChicago Medicine where his life could not be salvaged.
Adding to the early morning chaos, a 60-year-old man was found nursing a gunshot wound to his arm, mistakenly reported by the Chicago Tribune as having been taken to the same hospital where the first victim was pronounced dead. His condition was eventually settled as good. Meanwhile, another casualty, a 37-year-old man who sustained multiple gunshot wounds, was rushed in a critical stance of survival to Stroger Hospital.
The incident, still under investigation, reportedly stemmed from a verbal confrontation that abruptly escalated when two gunmen brandished their weapons and opened fire. ABC7 Chicago notes that the unidentified assailants promptly vacated the premises post-shooting, leaving behind unanswered questions and an ongoing investigation by Area One detectives.
