An Owosso man is currently in federal custody following a recent gunfire incident, according to multiple reports. The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Mack Adam Davis, is charged with possession of a short-barreled rifle, which is a violation of federal laws. ABC 12 News reported that the gunfire allegedly originated from Davis' residence early Monday morning.
Responding to reports of shots fired in the 800 block of Lyon Street, the Owosso Police Department, conducted an investigation which led to Davis' bedroom as the likely source. According to the Mid Michigan Now, authorities seized a short-barreled .22-caliber rifle among other firearms from the room. Despite the distressing nature of the incident, there were no injuries reported, and Davis was arrested and lodged in the Shiawassee County Jail last Thursday.
In a subsequent court appearance, a federal magistrate ordered Davis to be held pending further legal procedures, with a preliminary examination set for July 8. This decision was detailed in the proceedings covered by ABC 12 News.
