The Pima County Department of Transportation, alongside its contractor, Southern Arizona Paving, is kicking off the season with surface treatment work on Curtis Road from Highway Drive to Sago Circle. This event, which takes place from Thursday, June 20 to Friday, June 21, from the working hour of 6 a.m. to the retiring hour of 6 p.m.
During this operation, expect some slowdown in your routine transit narrative. Traffic control will be set up, and some turn movements within the roadwork zone could be limited. Anybody traveling through might face minor delays and will have to navigate lane closures. To help manage the flow, flaggers will take posts to direct and monitor traffic through the construction site.
If the machinery unexpectedly stops working or if there's severe weather, note that the construction calendar is subject to change. But one thing remains constant: this is only a glimpse into the more substantial, $20 million Road Pavement Repair and Preservation Program initiative, as ordained by the Pima County Board of Supervisors and the Transportation Department for Fiscal Year 2023/2024.
Pima County has its lines open, information can be obtained at 520-724-6410. And for Spanish speakers seeking a more familiar tongue, you'd speak with Melissa Cancio at the same number. Details about this roadwork and more like it are available on Pima County's official newsroom.
