Drivers in Pima County should prepare for possible delays as roadwork commences on the General Hitchcock Highway. According to Pima County's announcement, from Wednesday, June 26, to Tuesday, July 2, paving work will narrow traffic down to one lane from milepost zero to milepost three, with work hours spanning 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Pima County Department of Transportation and their contractor, Southern Arizona Paving, are teaming up for this project, that involves milling and paving along the popular route. The project is structured to avoid weekend disruptions, not occurring on June 29 or June 30. Motorists are advised to expect delays and should be prepared, for the possibility of changes in traffic patterns.
Movements within the construction zone may be restricted due to on-site conditions, and flaggers will be present to guide and monitor traffic. Local officials urge travelers to approach with caution and heed any posted signs or directions from flaggers to ensure the safety of both the workers and the motorists.
