A quiet Clackamas community was shaken in the early hours of Saturday when a man was found fatally injured at the Crown Court Apartments. According to KATU, multiple 9-1-1 calls were made around 12:49 a.m., with reports of someone yelling for help and a man being wounded. Upon arrival, Clackamas County deputies discovered a bystander administering first aid to the victim, before taking over and attempting lifesaving measures themselves. Tragically, their efforts were ultimately futile as the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has been identified by the sheriff's office as 30-year-old Portland resident, Jefferson Smith Cates. As reported by KPTV, the county medical examiner has declared the death a homicide. Details surrounding the incident are still sparse, and the authorities have not made no arrests in connection with the homicide at this time.
Officials have yet to disclose any potential motives or suspect information, and the investigation appears to be ongoing. The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is now calling for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
