
Residents of Salem are grappling with a disturbing incident involving local teenagers and the fatal shooting of a cat, an event that has led to charges of animal abuse. According to KOIN, surveillance footage from a home on Lee Street SE captured the actions of a group of teens surrounding and then, fatally, involving a local cat on May 7.
After the police were alerted, two 17-year-olds were charged, stemming from the evidence presented in the heartbreaking footage. One of the teenagers is confronted not only with accusations of first-degree aggravated animal abuse but also an evidence tampering charge. This was confirmed by KPTV, who further reported that the incident was recorded early on the morning of May 10, with the footage capturing one of the individuals shooting the cat multiple times.
As the case unfolds and authorities work to bring justice for the slain animal, the Salem police have extended their search. They are not only looking for the gun used in this reprehensible act but also for the suspect who fired it, appealing to the public for any information that might lead to this individual's capture.
