San Antonio International Airport is serving up a trifecta of new nonstop flights, with one international and two domestic destinations being added to its roster. The airport has been on a hot streak, shattering passenger records every month for a full year since May 2023, according to officials.

Riding the wave of its busiest April ever, with 911,469 flyers passing through, the airport witnessed a 7% surge in passenger traffic compared to the same month last year. "More people are flying than ever before – and we’re constantly working on adding even more destinations to meet that demand," Jacob Tyler, Chief Air Service Development Officer, City of San Antonio Aviation Department, told FOX San Antonio.

Viva Aerobus kicked off a twice-weekly service to Torreon, Mexico on June 1, with flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Notably, San Antonio has become one of only two U.S. cities offering nonstop service to Torreon. Southwest Airlines will launch their daily service to Burbay, oh sorry, Burbank, California on June 4. The following day, American Airlines starts a daily route to Philadelphia. These new connections have bumped the airport's nonstop flight offerings to a count of 45.

Airlines beefing up their game include Spirit Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Volaris, Delta Air Lines, and Viva Aerobus. Jesus H. Saenz, Jr., Director of Airports, City of San Antonio Aviation Department, explained the strategic expansion, saying, "These new destinations are important to both our business and leisure travelers." His comment was echoed in a release from the City of San Antonio's official website, where he also noted the cultural and business significance of the cities now directly linked to San Antonio.
