A wild chase on wheels turned into a foot pursuit as Colma cops nabbed a man initially stopped for a scooter violation, only to discover he was wanted on a hefty felony warrant. According to the Colma Police Department's latest "Misdemeanor Monday" report, Angelo Anello, a 46-year-old San Francisco resident, led officers on a chase through the city streets last week.
The incident started around 9:49 p.m. on May 28 when officers pulled over Anello on an electric motorized scooter near the 3600 block of Junipero Serra Boulevard. After a routine name check, things went south. The suspect slammed the throttle and took off, but not for long. He spilled on the scooter before making a break for it on foot, per the official statement from the Colma Police Department’s Facebook page.
Not one to give up, Anello was chased down and detained by the officers shortly after on the 100 block of D Street in Daly City. He had more than an aversion to traffic stops – a $75,000 warrant was out for his arrest from a neighboring jurisdiction.
But the rap sheet didn't end there. The man was arrested and booked into San Mateo County Jail, facing several charges. Anello got tagged for resisting arrest and found in possession of controlled substances, as well as misappropriation of found property – credit cards that didn’t bear his name were among the items discovered during the search, the cops reported.
